What if you could beat death, again and again, like extra lives in a video game?

Zoé has been locked in a basement and subjected to years of brutal abuse. She should have died many times, but she doesn’t. Each breath is borrowed, each survival inexplicable. Now, bleeding out once more, Zoé clings to her will to live — and to escape the cage her captors have built around her.
